Founded in 2005, HomePlate has supported thousands of youth experiencing housing instability over the last 20 years. From one founder to a team of 24 passionate employees, HomePlate’s growth reflects the profound need and positive impact of our work. We are honored to offer five essential programs:
- Outreach: Connecting with youth in our community to provide immediate support and survival resources.
- Drop-In: Providing youth with basic needs such as food, clothing, and showers at Drop-In Centers in Beaverton and Hillsboro.
- Education: Empowering youth through learning opportunities and academic support.
- Employment: Helping young people gain skills and opportunities for meaningful careers.
- Housing: Offering safe and supportive housing solutions to ensure a stable foundation for the future with the support of Washington County.
Our mission is to uplift and empower young people experiencing housing instability through community building, education, and access to services and resources. In 2023, HomePlate served 918 unique youth, a 66% increase from 2022. Last year our Drop-In team served almost 25,000 meals to youth in need and our Housing program helped 60 families secure homes. With your support, we can continue changing the lives of young people in our community and create a stable future for years to come.
Firsthand Impact:
"When I found myself without a home, without food, without hope, HomePlate was there to catch me...HomePlate didn't just meet my needs; they invested in my future." - Kody, 21
"HomePlate was my safe zone for many years and it grew into a family for me. It was my tribe of friends and family who got me through so many difficult times in my life. I would not be where I am today if HomePlate had not opened up 20 years ago. You all taught me to reach for the stars. I did just that and now own my own home! Thank you for letting me be a part of HomePlate and never giving up on us." - Former HomePlate Youth
"It helped me be able to see, obtain, and pursue things that I didn't think were an option for me." - Jae, former HomePlate Youth
